I wonder if Brandon Moore is having second thoughts about taking the USD job. His old team at Mines is 10-0 and #1 in the D-II polls.

On a serious note, rebuilding this program will take some time. I'm sure Mines is still benefiting from what Moore helped build and the new guy hasn't crashed the Ferrari. I really hope y'all do well in the Playoffs.

Chicago State is joining the NEC next school year. Then they want to add football for '25.

Could Eastern Washington consider going non scholarship/PFL route? It sounds some hard decisions need to be made. LinkAt one point EWU, with its bright red artificial turf and 8,500 capacity stadium, was a major FB power in the Big Sky right behind the two Montana schools and often beating them. This year they were 4-7 but were competitive in all but a couple of games. If the EWU board considers moving FB to a lower NCAA division, won’t the entire athletic program have to drop down as well? D-II still means fewer schollies but travel might be less expensive. But, if they want to remain a D-I school in other sports, their only options are to continue as is, go PFL or drop the sport, right? Going PFL would keep EWU in D-I and that would also give USD another west coast PFL school to play. It would also fit into the discussion of two PFL divisions and a post season single game championship. Who knows how long Augustana and the Summit are gonna take to make up their minds.

From the consultant's report: Football needs to be transformed in order to bring it in line with EWU’s budget challenges and other regional universities in our area. It is unsustainable for a university of our size with our budgetary challenges to allow a single unit to accumulate annual deficits as large as the ones listed in this template. At the start of this process, Larry Goldstein, the consultant who developed the SRA process and consulted throughout the process, charged the task forces to consider all options to cut our deficit and said this process can only succeed if there are no sacred cows. EWU’s leadership needs to consider all options to decrease Football’s unstainable deficit spending, including moving Football to a lower division. He may have a poor understanding of what moving football to a lower division would entail. As we know, that would mean moving every EWU sport to a lower division. (edit: Valpo LB posted this as I was writing) Maybe he had the PFL in mind. I question the impact of this report, however. Meanwhile, EWU is scheduled to give Drake a $285,000 check next September. Their field infamously looks like a crime scene involving Kool-Aid Man.

Signing his first 15 recruits for Tulane is Jon Sumrall, who was just hired as head coach. This season, he was the head coach at Troy, but was at one time assistant head coach at USD (under Caragher).

Ah, the enthusiasm of youth! UDM football at Ford Field.... If he ever digs in to the details, he will be sorely disappointed. Then again, maybe the Flyers can rake in $1.75 million by playing Michigan State.... Happy to see it is on at least one student's radar. If Lawrence Tech can do it, UDM could as well, especially in the PFL.

For the benefit of those who weren't reading this board 10-15 years ago, Detroit Mercy nearly restarted football and joined the PFL. There was a meeting with Commissioner Viverito...and UDM upgraded Titan Field, including artificial turf with football yard markings. The AD, Keri Gaither, was going to make the addition of football her baby. Then, this happened. Suddenly, Gaither was gone - and her pet project was toxic. Today, UDM'S athletic director is a Duke football alum. However, with Titan men's basketball currently at 0-18 this season, it doesn't appear to be a good time to start a football team. The "put more resources into basketball" crowd would surely protest. In honor of Detroit Flyer, Keri Gaither, and the horndog son of a Pro Football Hall of Famer, I give you an encore presentation of... Every French-named street in the City of Detroit, Michigan:
