Tight end Adam Trautman was in on 16 offensive snaps for 22% and 18 special teams snaps for 55% for Sunday's game on 11/1/2020.
I have not watched any NFL games this season so I don't know why Adam is not being targeted. (He had zero targets on Sunday and has not caught a pass in weeks....).
Playing 22% of the offensive snaps and getting zero targets seems odd to me.
Maybe not that unusual for the third string tight end.... Still, I think he could contribute much more if given the opportunity....
I also find it interesting that Adam Shaheen got nothing but negative press in Chicago, (Division 2 tight end). He is perhaps a big reason the Bears did not draft Adam Trautman. So, he washed out with the Bears, but I think he is now doing quite well with the Dolphins....
Seems like success in the NFL is being at the right place at the right time, (in addition to having the talent).
It will be interesting to see what happens with Adam Trautman, if he stays and develops in New Orleans or ends up moving on to another organization in the future. I'm betting the the "newness" of the NFL has worn off and like all high level players he wants to play more and contribute a whole lot more.
That's not a bad number of snaps for a rookie; way more than Ross Dwelley had. And way, way more than Donald Parham is getting. I am betting that he ends up getting lots more targets as he continues to learn. My impression is that the Saints are quite high on him.
It's pretty amazing that there are 4 PFL alumnus playing tight end that are on active NFL rosters right now. And Jason Myers is one of the best kickers in the damn league. Guy is a perfect 12 for 12 on field goals this season and hit from 61 yards the other day. Damn kid is from San Diego too and scorned my Toreros to go play at Marist!
