"No teams play their best on slippery turf. Those kinds of conditions can especially do a lot to nullify one team’s advantage in athleticism — which the Cyclones had.
You can’t cut as well on wet grass. You can’t explode. You can’t freelance.
At that point, motivation and execution become more important."
I remember Drake letting the stadium grass grow ankle-high for a Tulsa game. Athleticism was enough that day. Tulsa had a couple of guys in the backfield who went on to play for the Chiefs. Between them, I think they scored five touchdowns.
Now Drake has artificial turf, and the Bulldogs rarely play high level talent in Des Moines.
Fast forward to about 30 minutes into the tape for the snow storm to really start going
Lol. They had a little condensation/icing problem with the end zone camera. It was pretty much obliterated by 1:15:40.
BTW, Chuck's selections are all on the Drake Football Twitter account. Most are yet to be posted.
I was at that game -- I had some "icing problems" myself... It was coming down so hard at times it was difficult to see the other sideline...ah October in the Hudson River Valley...if only we could get San Diego in for a game like this....
