'Lots that could be said here. The WAC may soon reinstate football, at the FCS level. Will New Mexico State football drop down? Will West Texas move to D-I and join the WAC? Smells like money for the Drake paycheck hounds.
What about the Pioneer? I don't like stating the obvious, but there is a reason the Tulsa World article did not include Tulane in its FBS realignment scheme. The Green Wave will reclassify their football to FCS and join the Pioneer Football League.
To recenter the PFL's footprint around St. Louis, I'd pare the PFL's membership down to six members: St. Thomas, Drake, Valpo, Butler, Dayton, and Tulane. That's enough to keep the automatic playoff bid. And I'd rename the league after the only PFL alum to play in a Pro Bowl, Billy Cundiff. It would be the Billy Goat League, or BGL for short. The league would also have its own flag...basically the same as the one used by the City of St. Louis...except that a goat emblem would replace the fleur-de-lis.
Furthermore, the league would have football scholarships and a big TV contract.
Under my plan, San Diego would join the NFL. The rest of the current PFL could remain nonscholarship and join up with Georgetown.
