At the end of spring ball, they will have had five Saturdays, including four at Drake. Tomorrow's session is at Waukee h.s. The Drake Stadium Saturdays have/will double(d) as Junior Days for recruiting. Spring game is April 22nd (1:00).
A recent podcast revealed a few nuggets of information:
--Ian Corwin will be a member of the team, but Luke Bailey is the starting QB. --The head coach noted improved depth at the line positions, LB, TE, and DB. I agree. --NCAA rules allow eight weeks of summer conditioning in a nine-week period. DU will start around Memorial Day '23 (with a week off in early July). --Coach mentioned that about 70 percent of Bulldog recruits come from the team's summer camps. --Another foreign service trip (along the lines of 2011 in Tanzania) is being planned for the summer of 2024. The coach did not disclose a location or whether there will be an exhibition game.

--Another foreign service trip (along the lines of 2011 in Tanzania) is being planned for the summer of 2024. The coach did not disclose a location or whether there will be an exhibition game. The DU website now gives details on a trip to Panama next May. Sounds less like a church mission that the previous coaches' foreign trips. And to reiterate, Drake is not a Christian school. The trip will conclude with a scrimmage game v. an U19 team. Sometimes I wonder about the program's priorities.
