If Martha Stewart can get the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition cover, anything is possible. Even the return of Xavier football.

LD:
I saw this article and posted it on several Xavier boards. Comments ranged from it isn’t on the radar to the general “who knows?“. I try to read it as encouraging as the AD likes the concept and thinks it works but the stadium issue remains. I am not in the loop and those who claim to be have not opined on this latest article. I am still in the mindset that $20 million for a new stadium is unrealistic. But in the wake of the news that Xavier’s tuition has increased 33% in the 10 years since my daughter graduated, it seems incumbent that the school try to attract students particularly males.

The Des Moines public schools' new stadium on the Drake campus is scheduled to open this fall. Think of it as a mini-Welcome Stadium for the 21st Century (capacity 4,000). A slightly bigger version of this would look good at Xavier, don't you think?

Interesting, LD but not a big fan of the overhanging roof. The nostalgic me would like to see a remake of the old Xavier stadium but in a smaller scale with concrete stands on both sides. But any stadium would do. Passed by the Corcoran Field site on Victory Parkway last Friday as I attended a Xavier alum basketball game at the Cintas Center. There are plans to install stands there for the soccer team. There is ample room to build football stands on both sides. I have suggested it on Xavier threads but funding remains an issue. I still hope that the Board of Trustees give it an okay in December but nothing has been heard since the last article in the local paper. Today, someone on Twitter mused that Elon Musk’s favorite football team should be Xavier given the X moniker to be used. I chimed in that with the nickname MUSKeteers, it is a natural fit and expressed the hope that he could fund a new stadium at Xavier.
