Coach Parady hasn't had a winning season since 2013, which was only his second winning season as a HC in the Pioneer League. Win or lose this weekend, he won't have a winning season this year, either...but will the outcome of this game have any bearing on Coach P's future at Marist?

Sadly no. A 4-4 result in PFL is considered a "good" year. So sad.

A 4-4 result in PFL is considered a "good" year. That's a trap several PFL schools fall into. However, they disregard non-league games ("preseason games," as Rick Fox called them) at their peril. Prospective recruits have eyes on you for the entire season.

Agreed. Now with Drake you did play the National Champs. We play G’town. And still get crushed. Bison will likely beat us by 14+.

Bucknell, Columbia, and G Town are not titans but they are legit FCS programs that would most likely be top teams in the PFL. The program would do well to open with a Pace, Assumption or a New Haven caliber team in order to get some winning seasons to help recruiting. This year we played you early but other recent season your team was pretty beat up by the time you got to us. A new AD and Head Coach turned our program around, increased alum interest, and pushed the school to invest into a brand new stadium. We have sustained academics and I am sure Marist could do the same and have more on field success.

Davidson has done an incredible job elevating its FB program. So many Marist FB alum look at your success and ask why not us? To date the Marist board of trustees hasn’t or won’t make the kind of commitment to our sports programs and coaching staffs like Davidson has done. Until that happens we will languish through 3-8 or 4-7 seasons.

The other factor football teams and athletic alums should push is the current gender ratio. Many of these schools are starting to tilt heavlily towards becoming female institutions. I believe Marist is pushing 60%. Football and sports can also be an asset to diversity increases. Time to fight college trustees with their own ammo. A robust football program that is fully supported can bring quality male and diversity students. I have sisters and daughters and I want them to all have equal opportunities but the enrollment in many of these institutions is starting to show a bias in one direction. Football is the answer!

Multiple sources report that Patriot League "heavies" attended the Marist- Bucknell game. Rumor has it that the Patriot League is looking to expand, but only wants schools with football programs. There has been a long standing rumor of Marist coveting a Patriot League invite -- getting wacked by Bucknell may not have helped this case. However, Marist defeated Bucknell in men's basketball 73-49 this week. Other PL schools on the men's schedule include Army West Point (a 71-55 Marist win), Lehigh and the men's team also has Dartmouth on the schedule. The women's team has Army West Point (a 76-68 win), Lafayette, Lehigh and Ivies Cornell, Yale, and Penn. The drama continues......
