...goes to Mark Gronowski of South Dakota State. He is the son of former Drake QB Ray Gronowski.
Makes me wonder what would have happened if Drake had the money to add an (architecturally questionable) upper deck to Drake Stadium, back in the 1980s. With 30,000 seats, Drake could have remained in I-A, and perhaps sustained its program through membership in a better conference. Maybe they would have followed Tulsa all the way to the AAC.
And if so, would the Dogs have Mark Gronowski at QB? Would they have played a bowl game this month, away from the frozen tundra? We'll never know.

That’s like saying if Butler had kept the entire Bowl instead of putting the Starlight theatre in the south end in the 1950’s, lol. Who knows what would have happened if Butler, Dayton, and Drake stayed in Division I FBS. Butler went to the College Division (today’s Division II/III) in the 1950’s and D2 in the 1970’s. Dayton and Drake went from D1 to D3 in the 1980’s. All while all had Div 1 hoops. The forced move to FCS in the 1990’s was good and bad. Good for exposure but bad with no Scholly’s in the PFL.
